Ben Simmons Should Regret Failing to Follow LeBron James' Crucial Advice

Ben Simmons, the top point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, has had a frustrating few months. The 76ers and Simmons are still at odds, putting Simmons’ NBA future on hold for the time being. It might, however, come down to his refusal to heed key advise from LeBron James.

Ben Simmons’ future in Philadelphia is unknown.

Simmons’ future is uncertain after the 76ers suffered yet another dismal second-round playoff defeat.

The incessant criticism leveled at the 25-year-old has prompted him to express his wish to play for a different team. He has stayed away from Philadelphia due to the lack of progress on that front.

Simmons is in the second year of a five-year, $177.2 million contract that will keep him in the league through the 2024-25 season. The problem has remained unsolved because to his large contract and the 76ers’ exorbitant asking price.

While the three-time All-Star waits for a decision, his reluctance to heed LeBron James’ guidance may be to blame for his current dilemma.

Ben Simmons should be kicking himself for not taking LeBron James’ vital counsel.

During his lone year at LSU, Simmons established himself as the NBA’s next potential star, drawing repeated comparisons to LeBron James.

Because the Australian native was a forward who played like a point guard and had a similar body type, the two had similar playing styles. At the age of 17, Simmons drew LeBron James’ attention while participating in the LeBron James Skills Academy. According to Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated, James gave important advise to bright players at the time.

“You have a chance to be better than me,” James encouraged Simmons early on. You can’t, however, skip steps. “You must put in the effort,” Jenkins wrote.

Simmons’s strong ability to become one of the league’s finest players was recognized by the then-Miami Heat star. However, James’ comments are acting as a sobering reminder for the 76ers All-Star point guard, who has yet to take the next step forward.

He’s developed into a legitimate talent because to his passing and defense, but his lack of outside shooting ability remains a concern. Simmons has made no significant progress in this area. Instead, it’s become his game’s Achilles heel.

Meanwhile, since he hasn’t demonstrated offensive growth, the parallels to James have faded. The Lakers’ great forward came into the NBA with doubts about his shooting ability. He’s answered the call by honing a consistent jump shot and establishing himself as a threat from beyond the arc (34.6).

Simmons hasn’t progressed in this area, shooting 14.7 percent from 3-point range on 5-of-34 tries in his career. His failure to follow James’ counsel has resulted in his suffering the repercussions, and his future is unclear.

Ben Simmons’ future is in the hands of the 76ers.

Simmons’ destiny is out of his hands, no matter how badly he wants to leave Philadelphia.

The 76ers are still seeking a large trade deal that includes several first-round draft selections and an All-Star-caliber player. Several clubs have shown interest in the organization, although the group has turned down a few trade offers.

The 76ers are said to have turned down a deal from the Portland Trail Blazers, who are led by CJ McCollum. They also notified the Lakers that Russell Westbrook is not on their radar. Simmons is a talented player with some offensive faults, but he may be useful as a backup.

The issue now is whether the 76ers would lower their high asking price, allowing all sides to move on to a new beginning.
