In a recent interview with Boston magazine, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick shared a story about the time he once had a beef with a high school rival. Brady, who has been the Pats starting quarterback since 2001, is on the verge of setting the NFL record for most consecutive games with starting a quarterback to start his career. He’d already set a record with his 6,590 passing yards to start the season and could pass Montana’s mark of 7,084 with another strong game Sunday against the Raiders.

The New England Patriots coach has been in the news for a couple of weeks now, thanks to an interview with an Irish radio network and a documentary about the man that he once called a “ruthless, conniving b****.” Although Belichick has remained uncharacteristically quiet on social media, there’s no hiding the fact that he still has a grudge against the man who replaced him in New England.. Bill Belichick has a lengthy history in football. He has almost four decades of NFL coaching experience and has worked with some of the game’s all-time greats. So when the New England Patriots’ head coach — who is known for being brief during interviews — expresses his admiration for a specific player, you know he means it. And that’s exactly what Belichick did recently when he revealed an interesting fact about his erstwhile arch-rival, Peyton Manning, the Hall of Fame quarterback.

NFL rivals Peyton Manning and Bill Belichick

The Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots has been one of sports’ most storied rivalry for years. Peyton Manning was pitted against Tom Brady, and Manning was pitted against Bill Belichick.

During Manning’s tenure with the Colts, the Patriots had some of their all-time best teams, winning several Super Bowls.

However, Indy prevented them from winning any more games.

From 2001 through 2004, Belichick and Brady led New England to three titles in four seasons. In those years, the Pats defeated Manning and the Colts twice in the playoffs, once in the AFC Championship Game.

The Colts, on the other hand, gained their vengeance in 2006, defeating the Patriots 38-34 in the AFC championship game before going on to win the Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears. New England might have won their fourth championship in six seasons if the Colts had not won that game.

The Patriots returned to the Super Bowl in 2007 and 2011, while the Colts did likewise in 2009. Manning, on the other hand, joined the Denver Broncos in 2012, and he and the Broncos went on to defeat Belichick, Brady, and the Patriots in two AFC Championship Games in 2013 and 2015.

For nearly 15 years, Manning and Belichick’s teams were basically two of the greatest in the NFL. Because of their supremacy over the rest of the league, they eventually went at it year after year, with Belichick finishing 12-8 versus Manning altogether. In the playoffs, though, the Colts legend went 3-2 versus the Patriots and 3-1 in AFC Championship Games.

Peyton Manning received great accolades from New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Peyton Manning is no longer bothering Bill Belichick as the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos; he was just inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So, now that he doesn’t have to game prepare for Manning and can simply reminisce on their fights, the Patriots’ head coach made an interesting revelation about the great.

According to ProFootballTalk, Belichick stated to The Boston Globe, “He is certainly the greatest quarterback I’ve coached against.” “There have been quarterbacks who have called their own plays before, but nothing like what he did. He essentially called every play by modifying and/or amending it based on the defense’s actions. He was a master at utilizing the cadence and detecting blitzes, and he pushed us to alter and adapt defensive gameplans more than any other offensive player.”

If that isn’t great praise, I don’t know what is. Belichick has coached against players like John Elway, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Patrick Mahomes throughout his time in the NFL. Manning, though, was the greatest of all the quarterbacks he’d faced.

That demonstrates how dominating the five-time NFL MVP was throughout the course of his career. It’s no surprise he’s inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Belichick, on the other hand, will ultimately join him in the locker room.

Bill Belichick will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at some point.

Peyton Manning was a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame when he got eligible, and Bill Belichick will be the same.

He’s a six-time Super Bowl winner, three-time Associated Press Coach of the Year, and the NFL’s all-time leader in overall victories with 280. From 2003 to 2019, his Patriots only missed the playoffs twice in 19 seasons, and just once in 17 seasons from 2003 to 2019.

Simply stated, his teams have always been dominating and among the best in the NFL.

No, Belichick isn’t through building his legacy yet, but when he is, he will undoubtedly be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Manning is likely to have high words on him as well.
