A devastating injury to the Oregon Ducks’ starting quarterback, Justin Herbert, has been announced. This is a momentous event for the program as they face a difficult road ahead without their leader on the field.

The herbert chargers is a story about the devastating injury news that could severely impact Justin Herbert’s MVP-level season.

With wins against the Las Vegas Raiders, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cleveland Browns, the Los Angeles Chargers have surprised the NFL with a 4-1 start to the season. As he continues to break records, Justin Herbert is playing at an MVP level and receiving high praise from many former NFL players.

The Chargers face the Baltimore Ravens in a key game this weekend in a duel of 4-1 teams. However, after Sunday’s win over the Browns, LA was given some devastating injury news, as Oday Aboushi tore his ACL and is now gone for the season.

This is the latest setback to the Chargers’ offensive line, which has been battered in recent seasons and will be difficult to overcome.

To begin the year, Oday Aboushi was at his best.

During the free agency period, the Chargers made significant investments on the offensive line. General manager Tom Telesco brought in Matt Feiler and Aboushi, and spent a lot of money to sign Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl center Corey Linsley.

With Bryan Bulaga already on injured reserve, Storm Norton was thrust into the starting lineup. Nonetheless, this unit has had a great start to the season. In any case, Herbert is a fantastic player, but the Chargers have lacked strong protection in previous years.

The Chargers signed Aboushi to a one-year contract, and he will now miss the rest of the season. The nine-year NFL veteran was most recently with the Detroit Lions before joining LA. He played for the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, and New York Jets, among others.

The injury came at an inopportune time, as Aboushi was just settling in with the Chargers and providing good coverage for Herbert and running back Austin Ekeler.

Who will take Aboushi’s place?

According to a source, the #Chargers have signed veteran offensive lineman Senio Kelemete off the #49ers practice squad. Frank Smith, the L.A. run game coordinator and offensive line coach, coached Kelemete in New Orleans.

The Chargers wasted no time in signing Senio Kelemete off the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday to bolster their offensive line. Michael Schofield, on the other hand, seems to be the urgent stopgap.

When Bulaga returns, the Chargers could contemplate rotating the line and moving Norton across to replace Aboushi. Despite this, Schofield will have a good chance to start against a strong Ravens defense on Sunday.

The good news is that Linsley and rookie phenom Rashawn Slater have both had outstanding seasons, with Slater handling some of the league’s top pass rushers. Injury is always a concern, and the Chargers have had a rotating door of offensive lineman in recent seasons.

The injury puts even more pressure on Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers.

To begin the 2021 campaign, Herbert has been outstanding. He has the Chargers leading the AFC West and, for that matter, the whole AFC. On the season, the Oregon product has 1576 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just three interceptions.

He’s led comeback after comeback, including a thrilling win against Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead and a courageous fourth-quarter comeback against Baker Mayfield and the Browns. However, it has only been five weeks since the second starting offensive lineman has been placed on injured reserve.

The good news is that Bulaga is expected to return at some time in the future; at least, that is the hope. For the time being, Norton has done a good job filling in for Bulaga, and now it’s time for Schofield to step up and take Aboushi’s place. Pass protection is as important as ever, particularly given the Chargers’ difficult schedule.

Herbert will go on anyway, but the loss of Aboushi is a significant one that will push the great gunslinger to work even harder and prolong his MVP-type season.

Pro Football Reference provided the statistics.

Justin Herbert of the Chargers receives a huge compliment from Jimmy Johnson and Rex Ryan, which will enrage Patrick Mahomes.
