Doug Pederson is a very talented young coach, and he would be a good fit in Chicago. He is known for his staff, and his ability to gather the right players for his schemes. He led the Eagles to a Super Bowl in 2017, and he has NFL experience. He is also known for speaking his mind, and I think that would be a benefit for the Bears.
Matt Nagy is in a bit of a pickle, at least as far as the Bears are concerned. After just one season as their head coach, many fans have taken to calling for his immediate dismissal. Rumors about whether or not he will be back in 2019 are aplenty.
The Bears are in need of a head coach and are turning their attention to Doug Pederson, who is the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Bears need to hire a coach who can turn this franchise around and get them back on track. They need a coach who will get this team to improve on offense and defense and get them back in the playoffs. Doug Pederson was seen working with some of the team’s offensive players at a recent Chicago Bears training camp session. Yes, he is the same Pederson that led the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory.
Pederson was dismissed by the Eagles after a disastrous 2020 season, and he has yet to consider other coaching opportunities. He had a short conversation with Pete Carroll about becoming the next offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks earlier this summer, but the discussions fell through.
While Pederson may not be looking for a new job right now, he may be on the lookout for future possibilities. It’s possible that this hypothesis explains his recent visit in Chicago.

On and off the field, Pederson and Matt Nagy, the Bears’ current head coach, are good friends. In Kansas City, the two worked on the same staff and have had a long-standing friendship. Pederson’s appearance at a Bears practice is most likely Nagy enlisting the assistance of an old buddy.
With that said, it’s almost hard to overlook the potential here.
Nagy is on the verge of being dismissed, whether he believes it or not. Many Bears fans were clamoring for his firing this season, and it’s difficult to see his seat not being heated right now.
Nagy will most likely be forced to take the fall if the Bears miss the playoffs in 2021 or if rookie quarterback Justin Fields does not take the necessary steps in his personal growth. This is where Pederson comes into play.
Justin Fields would be well served by hiring Doug Pederson.
The Bears are in a similar situation to the Eagles when they hired Pederson for the first time in 2016. After a string of disappointing seasons, the Eagles were searching for the perfect head coach/quarterback combination to lead them back to the playoffs.
While Carson Wentz’s stint in Philadelphia ended on a bad note, the Eagles originally regarded him as their franchise quarterback. In 2017, Wentz threw for 33 touchdowns and had a league-leading 78.5 QBR. Pederson and the successful teaching techniques he used may be credited for a lot of his early success and growth.
Pederson is a descendant of Andy Reid’s coaching tree, which has a track record of success in the NFL.
Fields, who is physically comparable to Wentz (both players are strong-armed and mobile), would benefit from long-term coaching under Pederson, particularly if the two can develop a bond during this year’s training camp.
The Chicago Bears will eventually need a new head coach, so why not get ahead of the game and employ a previous Super Bowl champion?

Even if Nagy isn’t fired this season, the Bears will almost certainly be looking for a new head coach in the near future. Nagy has been in charge since 2018, and Chicago has yet to see any results.
If the Bears wanted to be proactive, they might have jumped the gun on Pederson before he was picked up by another club in the offseason. Pederson is still a Super Bowl-winning head coach with numerous postseason victories and two division championships despite a terrible 2020 season.
Hiring Pederson is a no-brainer if the Bears are serious about constructing a contender around Fields in the future.
