Giannis Antetokounmpo went on a rant about the pure joy of discovering that he could dunk Oreos in milk. It’s not often you see an NBA star go off script like this, but it is also noteworthy to know that Giannis found himself at Dunkin’ Donuts when he had his moment of discovery.
Last season, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to their first NBA title in 50 years. He was awarded MVP of the Finals. In 2019-20, he was voted Defensive Player of the Year after winning two regular-season MVP titles.
The Greek Freak is already a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame as one of the best basketball players on the globe. From beyond the free-throw line, he can euro step. He can pick up his dribble and dunk without having to venture beyond the three-point line.
Giannis, on the other hand, seems to be more entertaining to watch off the floor than on it.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is no longer merely a superstar for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Giannis is more than simply a hero to his native supporters. There were probably times last summer when Antetokounmpo wasn’t a favorite opponent for Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks, or Phoenix Suns fans.
However, finding a cause to despise The Greek Freak is practically hard. As a human person, the 27-year-old is just nice.
That’s evidenced in part by the time in 2014 when he tweeted about getting a smoothie: “I just taste for the first time a smothie..MAN GOD BLESS AMERICA”
Or when he tweeted about eating Funyuns while getting a pedicure: “While having my first pedicure in two years, I tried my first bag of Funyuns. They where good but I’ll stick to American Cool Ranch Doritos #AmericaStayBlessed #WhatsNextForTheFreak”
Or when he makes dad jokes, as when he asked the press whether they had seen the new film Constipation. When someone said no, he said, “That’s because it hasn’t come out yet,” and then dropped the mike and bolted.
(I don’t think it’s standard practice for a sports website to link to BuzzFeed articles, but this one, headed “14 Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Funniest Moments That Prove He’s A Total Dad,” is too fantastic to pass up.)
These are just a few instances of Giannis doing what he does best. However, there is another incident of his individuality bursting to the surface. It was gold when Antetokounmpo went on a two-minute diatribe about dipping Oreos in milk.
The Greek Freak was overjoyed to discover that dipping Oreos in milk was a thing.
Antetokounmpo is one of the sport’s most modest superstars (as evidenced above). It’s never been lost on him that he started from terrible poverty in Greece and has worked his way up to numerous $100 million-plus contracts.
In addition to his many other relatable moments, Giannis told the anecdote of a boy who told him he could dip Oreos in milk. Antetokounmpo now considers it a “every night snack.”
Via Stephen Watson of WISN:
“So it’s absolutely bed time, as you people say?” What about a bedtime snack? Snack before bed. So I did this commercial, this video shoot, and there were three kids there, and we were shooting a commercial about cookies. They got some Oreos over there, and this youngster said, ‘Have you ever eaten Oreos before?’
“(I replied) well, when I first arrived to the league, it was the first thing I ate because I used to want them but couldn’t afford them, so when I get a little money – guys go spend money on cars and chains – I’m going to buy Oreos, right?” So I ate them nonstop for a month, no supper, no lunch, no nothing, and I was sick of them. But I’ve had my share of them.
“‘Have you ever dipped them in milk?’ he said. ‘No,’ I said, and he said, ‘You should try it.’ So I replied, ‘OK, okay, we’ll do the commercial,’ and I grabbed the milk and the Oreos and put them in the milk, and he shouted, ‘No!’ Simply dip it, as though you were putting it in.’ Don’t worry about anything, just give me a spoon, I said. I grab a spoon, take the first one, and think to myself, ‘What the hell?’ ‘There’s no way.’ When he asked whether I liked them, I said, “Bro, this is incredible.”
“Obviously, I didn’t have one; in fact, I had about 12 of them.” Later on, I realized that’s a snack I had every night.”
Apparently, all the money in the world can’t buy you the satisfaction of discovering new and exciting ways to consume junk food.
Giannis is a two-time NBA champion and two-time MVP, but he’s also a national treasure.
When Giannis Antetokounmpo first met Semi Ojeleye, he joked “You guys brought the Giannis stopper here?” 😏 Ojeleye laughed. “That’s never come out of my mouth.” It was a funny start for the new #Bucks forward, who found a fit in Milwaukee. 🔒https://t.co/e1pryZqftL

Giannis has become into a superstar that all NBA fans can embrace as their own. He’s just too engaging and enjoyable a guy to be disliked by everyone.
What other NBA MVP would go on about how much fun it is to dunk Oreos in milk for two minutes?
The Greek Freak is a valuable asset, and we’re all fortunate to have him.
