There was an interesting conversation going on around the NBA this week, and it revolved around a specific point guard: Russell Westbrook. This is not an article about whether he’s good enough to be called “the best” – that has been debated ad nauseam in sports media – but rather if we’re even still debating who should rightfully hold the title of “point guard.”

The “golden state warriors” is a team that has been dominating the NBA for years. They have won three out of the last four championships and they are currently undefeated in the season. There is a lot of talk about how good Stephen Curry is as he’s having one of the best seasons ever.

'I Think We Should Be Debating Whether He's the Best Point Guard in the League'

Since the 2014-15 season, Stephen Curry has been the best point guard in the NBA. He’s won two regular-season MVP awards and three titles, and he just broke the record for most 3-pointers made in a single season. Desmond Bane of the Memphis Grizzlies, on the other hand, feels it’s time for Ja Morant to compete for the title of “greatest point guard in the NBA.”

Although Curry and Morant are friends, Bane’s remarks about the latter after the Grizzlies beat the Brooklyn Nets may irritate the former.

“I believe we should be arguing whether he’s the greatest point guard in the NBA,” Desmond Bane says of Ja Morant.

Morant’s outstanding performance led the Grizzlies to a 14-point victory against the Nets. The Murray State player made a spectacular dunk in traffic and finished with 36 points, six rebounds, and eight assists. Bane, who scored 29 points to help Memphis win its sixth consecutive game, believes Morant should be considered for the NBA’s best point guard award, which Curry has held for quite some time.

“People argue about whether he should be an All-Star, but I believe the conversation should be about whether he’s the greatest point guard in the league,” Bane remarked. “I don’t believe there’s any doubt in my mind that he’s an All-Star.” ‘Is he the best point guard in the league?’ is the true question. He’s unique.”

Last season, Morant and the Grizzlies beat Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the second play-in game to advance to the 2021 playoffs. Because the Warriors have the best record in the league and the Grizzlies are the No. 4 seed in the West, both Memphis and Golden State are expected to escape the play-in tournament this season.

Future bouts between Curry and Morant, on the other hand, may be must-see television, given Bane’s remark about the Davidson product.

Desmond Bane’s ja Morant remark might irritate Stephen Curry.

After reaching five straight Finals, the Warriors have missed the playoffs for the last two years. As a consequence, several of the league’s rookie point guards, such as Morant and All-Star Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, have gotten more attention and accolades.

Curry, on the other hand, has reminded everyone this season that he is still the best point guard in the world. While shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from outside the arc, and 92.1 percent from the free-throw line, the sharpshooter is averaging 27.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. Curry, who is fourth in the NBA in points per game and first in 3-pointers made, may take issue to Bane’s Morant remark, given that he is the floor general of the league’s top team.

Morant is also enjoying a fantastic statistical season. He’s averaging 25.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game, and he’s shooting 40.4 percent from outside the arc, which is a career best. Curry, on the other hand, is being unjust by putting Morant in the same boat with him. After all, the Grizzlies guard is just in his third season and has yet to win an MVP or a title. Meanwhile, Curry has been a superstar since the 2014-15 season and, despite being 33, shows no signs of slowing down.

Curry may not take everything personally the way Michael Jordan did, but he may use January 11 to send a message to Bane, Morant, and the Grizzlies, particularly in light of what Bane said and what Memphis did to Golden State earlier in the season.

On October 28, Stephen Curry and the Warriors were defeated by the Grizzlies.

On October 28, the Grizzlies gave the Warriors their first defeat of the season. Morant scored 30 points to lead Memphis to victory on the road. Curry scored 36 points on 11-of-29 shooting from the field.

On December 23, the Warriors avenged themselves by defeating the Grizzlies 113-104. Curry scored 46 points and made eight 3-pointers, while Morant added 21 points and six assists to his stat line. With a 1-1 draw in the season series, the upcoming meeting between Golden State and Memphis could be exciting.

Curry’s legacy has already been established. He doesn’t have anything left to prove. All excellent players, on the other hand, are very proud of themselves and believe they are the greatest. After hearing what Bane said, don’t be shocked if Curry annihilates Morant and the Grizzlies on January 11.
