Ja’Marr Chase was a rookie in one of the toughest divisions in football. He will not finish his first season with any wins or losses, but he led all rookies this year for interceptions and forced fumbles. Cincinnati faces Houston on Sunday to play for their fifth championship since 1990.
Ja’Marr Chase Sets Rookie Playoff Record as Cincinnati Bengals Shock the World on Their Way to the Super Bowl. The “ja’marr chase rookie card” is a football player who plays for the Cincinnati Bengals. He set a new record for most catches by a rookie in NFL history with 14 receptions.
On NFL Championship Sunday, the Cincinnati Bengals stunned the world by defeating the two-time reigning AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs 27-24 in overtime. During the game, All-Pro rookie wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase established even another record, claiming the title of most dangerous QB/WR tandem in the league with his college quarterback Joe Burrow.
The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in a huge upset to go to the Super Bowl.
Few expected the Cincinnati Bengals to overcome the Kansas City Chiefs and return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989. Patrick Mahomes’ team was set as a touchdown favorite over Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase’s team by Las Vegas bookies.
During the first half of the AFC Championship game, Vegas and the general public looked smart. The home side went into halftime with a 21-10 advantage.
The 2021 “Who Dey?” Bengals, on the other hand, showed up in the second half.
After a field goal by Cincinnati kicker Evan McPherson, Mahomes threw an unusual interception on the third possession of the half. Burrow connected with Chase for a two-yard touchdown throw, tying the game at 21 following a two-point convert.
In the fourth quarter, the teams swapped field goals, forcing the game into overtime. The Bengals’ defense then picked off Mahomes again after losing the coin toss the week before, setting up another McPherson game-winning field goal.
The Bengals are on their way to the Super Bowl, and it wouldn’t have occurred if Burrow’s former companion in crime from LSU hadn’t been selected No. 5 overall in this year’s draft.
In the AFC Championship Game, Ja’Marr Chase established yet another record.
The rookie wide receiver’s jersey, trousers, cleats, and gloves went directly to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio after his debut game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Chase’s 11 receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns set a new rookie receiving record for a single game.
Jerry Butler of the Buffalo Bills established the previous record in 1979 against the New York Jets with a 10-catch, 255-yard, four-TD performance.
Chase’s regular season finished a week later, and he continued to set new marks.
The former LSU Tiger’s 1,455 yards established a team record for the Cincinnati Bengals, surpassing Chad Johnson’s 1,440 yards in 2007. He also surpassed Justin Jefferson, a Tigers teammate, for the most receiving yards by a rookie. In his first season with the Minnesota Vikings in 2020, the wide receiver racked almost 1,400 yards.
In the playoffs, the records kept plummeting. In his first taste of the playoffs, Chase had three terrific games. In the Wild Card Round, he had nine receptions for 116 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders, and in the Divisional Round, he had five catches for 109 yards against the Tennessee Titans.
Chase had five receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. All of this comes up to 290 yards, which is a new rookie postseason high. The 249-yard record set by St. Louis Rams rookie WR Tory Holt in 1999 is now second all-time.
This year, Chase and Joe Burrow put the NFL on notice.

Joe Burrow is a 25-year-old quarterback in his second NFL season. Ja’Marr Chase is a rookie who is 21 years old. They just got the Cincinnati Bengals to the Super Bowl as a team.
This is awful news for all of the AFC’s teams, as well as the NFL as a whole.
Burrow and Chase may be the league’s most dangerous QB/WR tandem after only 20 games together. Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, as well as Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs, Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill, and Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, may disagree, but if Burrow and Chase aren’t the greatest, they’re very close.
These two, coupled with 25-year-old running back Joe Mixon, 23-year-old Tee Higgins, and 38-year-old head coach Zac Taylor, indicate that this offense will not only be excellent for a long time, but will improve with time.
On the defensive side of the ball, free agency signee DE Trey Hendricks led the season in sacks, and his unit came through in the AFC Championship game, flustering Patrick Mahomes when it was most needed.
The Bengals of 2021 should have lost to the Tennessee Titans or even the Kansas City Chiefs and felt good about their future with their youthful prospects. Burrow, Chase, Taylor, and the rest of the team, on the other hand, reached the Super Bowl in just the second year of the organization’s most recent reconstruction.
It’s no surprise that Burrow wears those sunglasses now because the future in Cincinnati is so bright.
