Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has already put in enough work to be a top-six player on any team. But the time is nigh: The Celtics will have to trade him if they want to make room for Kyrie Irving, who signed a max contract this summer. How can Boston get value out of Brown? Let’s take a look at some potential suitors and what it could take for the Celts to acquire one or more players with his skill set.

Jaylen Brown has been a key player for the Boston Celtics since he was drafted in 2016. However, with the trade deadline approaching, it is possible that he might not be around much longer. Read more in detail here: jaylen brown.

Jaylen Brown Shows the Celtics How Ridiculous They Would Look in Trading Him

At the NBA trade deadline, the Boston Celtics are expected to shake things up. While the Celtics may reposition by dealing players like Dennis Schroder and Al Horford, trading Jaylen Brown would be a complete disaster.

On Jan. 2, Brown delivered a strong message to Celtics head of basketball operations Brad Stevens and the rest of the front office by playing one of his best games of his career. Brown and Jayson Tatum, the star pair, have had their share of growing pains. Even yet, the C’s can’t afford to lose a player of Brown’s skill.

Jaylen Brown has been linked to a possible trade.

Following a poor 2020-21 season in which they finished as the Eastern Conference’s No. 7 seed, the Celtics intended to make a stride forward. However, Boston has struggled, and the rumor mill is buzzing.

“Speculation regarding Brown’s availability has substantially grown across the league,” according to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report in mid-December. Executives informed Fischer that they are still wary of the Brown-Tatum combo, with some even predicting a divorce.

Brown has yet to get any concessions from the Celtics. According to Fischer, Boston still views the All-Star swingman as untouchable.

Brown, on the other hand, did nothing to dampen the clamor. After Horford declared the squad needed to establish its identity, the 25-year-old surprisingly issued a public disagreement.

Unfortunately, the Celtics’ losses and alleged internal strife have fueled juicy rumors, making it seem like Brown may be traded. The Mariette, Georgia native, on the other hand, demonstrated on Jan. 2 why Boston would be making a significant mistake if it chose to trade him elsewhere.

Brown set a career best with 50 points in a game-winning comeback.

During a Sunday contest against the lowly Orlando Magic, things seemed to be getting worse for the Celtics.

Despite without Tatum and starting center Robert Williams, Boston should have been able to handle the Magic’s 7-29 record. That wasn’t the case for the first three quarters, as Orlando built a 12-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

The C’s seemed to be on their way to a humiliating defeat. That is, until Brown came in and took charge.

Brown scored 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting in the fourth quarter to help the Celtics tie the game, after scoring 17 points in the first half. He only scored three points in overtime, but the damage had already been done. Brown scored a career-high 50 points in the game, leading his side to a decisive win. He was well aware of that as well.

“We had to win,” Brown stated, according to ESPN. “There was no way we could’ve lost this game… I wanted to make it a win-win situation for everyone.”

Slow beginnings, according to the former University of California product, are possible dangers, and the C’s are keen to get out to a good start in 2022. Brown’s feeling of urgency sounds more and more like a leadership characteristic, despite his occasional outbursts.

Brown is a crucial franchise cornerstone because of his will to win and his superb two-way play.

The Celtics can’t afford to tempt themselves into making a hasty decision.

Fans should remember that, for all the hoopla about Tatum and Brown getting along, the two helped lead Boston to the Eastern Conference Finals only two seasons ago. The Celtics have not been as successful as they have been in recent years, but there are major contextual reasons for this.

COVID-19 caused a slew of roster and conditioning concerns for Boston in 2020-21. The organization was restructured this summer, with Stevens moving from the bench to the front office and the club appointing first-year head coach Ime Udoka.

Furthermore, the issue of availability has loomed big. Brown has only appeared in 23 of the Celtics’ 37 games this season. Josh Richardson, as well as Horford and Williams, have all lost time.

There are reasons to be hopeful, realistically. The Celtics have a 20-17 win-loss record and are ranked 11th in net rating. With Brown on the court, they are 7.4 points better per 100 possessions.

Brown and Tatum, on the other hand? According to NBA.com, they had a better net rating (4.3) in 19 games than the combo of Tatum and Schroder (3.3) and Tatum and Smart (1.9).

In Boston, there is much too much anxiety. The Celtics must be more proactive in their trade deadline maneuvers. However, Brown, who is one of the top two-way wings in the NBA, should not be traded.

Instead, the Celtics should consider how to surround Brown and Tatum with more capable playmakers, as Gordon Hayward and Kemba Walker did when they were healthy.
