Jayson Tatum led the Boston Celtics with 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting. He also snagged five rebounds and four assists in a 106-74 win over the Milwaukee Bucks last night, but it wasn’t enough for his team to overcome their 29 point deficit from yesterday’s loss.

The Boston Celtics are in a tough spot. After losing to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night, they have now lost 9 of their last 10 games and have fallen out of playoff contention. Jayson Tatum has taken steps to be the leader that the team desperately needs. Read more in detail here: celtics news.

Jayson Tatum Takes Steps to Be the Leader the Boston Celtics Desperately Need After Blowout Loss

Who is the Boston Celtics’ team captain? Is there one at all? This year’s primary question has been leadership, as Boston has spent the whole season hovering around.500. Jayson Tatum, a two-time All-Star, took the first step toward becoming the team’s captain on Friday night, after the Boston Celtics were blasted out by the Philadelphia 76ers, dropping the team’s record to.500.

Is Jayson Tatum the Boston Celtics’ leader?

The Celtics have an issue with their identity. This year, the organization had a huge shakeup as Brad Stevens quit coaching to take over for Danny Ainge, who resigned as club president. Ime Udoka was brought in to take his position by Stevens.

In Boston, things haven’t gone so smoothly. Boston is 21-22 after more than half of the season. The Celtics are on track to finish exactly where they were a year ago, with a 36-36 record.

So, who’s in charge of them? Tatum is their finest all-around player, but he isn’t a natural leader. Jaylen Brown, the team’s second All-Star, is in the same boat. Is Marcus Smart the right person for the job? He’s feisty, but shot selection and making sound on-court judgments aren’t his strong suits.

Even Udoka seems to have no idea who the leader is. He has questioned the team’s leadership and backed off on designating captains after previously promising to do so.

According to Mass Live, Udoka remarked before the season, “We’ve spoken about it; I’ve talked about it with the staff.” “You’ve got players that have been here forever, the core guys, with Marcus, Jaylen, and Jayson.” But you have a person like Al (Horford), who is returning and is a seasoned presence and voice that everyone respects and listens to. That’s something we’re debating. We won’t be able to have four team captains, but we’ll choose and choose, and we know some of the best men that everyone respects and listens to.”

He didn’t name any of them. He remarked in November that choosing a captain is in the “backview.”

Following a blowout defeat to the 76ers, Jayson Tatum made steps toward being that leader.

For the first time since Dec. 7, 2021, when they were 13-12, the Celtics aimed to climb back over.500. It didn’t go well, as they got off to a slow start and were never able to catch up to the 76ers in a 111-99 defeat on Friday night. Even so, it wasn’t even close.

After the first quarter, Boston was down 32-14 and trailed 55-35 at halftime. Tatum, like the rest of the Celtics, had a difficult night, scoring 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting. He did, though, accept responsibility for Boston’s early problems after the game.

According to CLNS Media, Tatum stated after the game, “Obviously, it began with the first unit.” “It all began with me.” We just had far too many turnovers in the first half.”

Tatum said he was too irresponsible with the ball and didn’t come off screens aggressively enough. He had a total of seven turnovers.

Tatum seized control despite the dismal figures. It’s a long cry from his assessment after the Celtics were blasted out on their own floor by the Toronto Raptors in their home opener.

According to Mass Live, Tatum said, “We know why we lost.” “They simply played tougher and harder than we did.” It wasn’t a difficult task. We’re all experts in our fields. We’re all grown-ups now. We were able to comprehend what had occurred.”

Tatum has moved on from the basic “we didn’t play hard” excuse to accepting personal responsibility for Friday’s poor start.

Tatum must develop into the leader that the Celtics sorely need.

Someone has to stand up and assume the Celtics’ leadership position. Tatum is the right man for the job.

This year, Boston has seen it all. Teammates have yelled at each other. They’ve squandered a number of double-digit leads late in games. The Celtics haven’t been able to win tight games this season. Except for leadership, they’ve seen pretty about everything.

After losing a large lead against the New York Knicks last week, Udoka was keen to bring it out.

“It wasn’t about the previous play this time.” After the Knicks game, Udoka noted, “It was everything building up to it.” “We’re in desperate need of some leadership.” Someone who can calm us down and not get agitated when things start to go wrong. It’s snowballing amongst our men, I believe.”

In Boston, someone has to step forward immediately. After a hard night on the court, Tatum may have chosen to take that first step.
