LeBron James said he doesn’t want the Cavaliers to tank, but his statement is so wild it’s hard not to take him seriously. He was careful with what he said because of course this would be a big story if true, but still left room for hope that Cleveland can make some noise in the playoffs.

LeBron James has given Cleveland Cavaliers fans unrealistic hope in the 2018 NBA Finals. The King is quoted as saying, “I would love to see LeBron in a Cavs uniform.” He also added that he “wouldn’t rule out” playing for the Cavaliers if they were to win the championship. Some Cleveland Cavaliers supporters still have a glimmer of faith that LeBron James will return to the Cavs before his storied NBA career ends after watching him leave and return once. Their club has only enjoyed success in the last two decades when he has been on it, thus his return to The Land would be game-changing and provide a much-needed spark to the fan base.

However, with the Los Angeles Lakers now fielding a loaded squad in search of a championship, it seems like The King will not be returning to Northeast Ohio anytime soon. Cavs supporters, on the other hand, now have some false optimism as a result of his recent words and tweet.

LeBron James lauded two current Cleveland Cavaliers players.

LeBron James seldom speaks about the Cavs’ present situation. Since he departed for the second time in 2018, Cleveland has been rebuilding, but they currently have a good roster with young players like Collin Sexton and youngster Evan Mobley.

With three consecutive excellent victories against the Atlanta Hawks, Denver Nuggets, and Los Angeles Clippers, the Cavs are off to a solid 3-2 start this season. Sexton, a fourth-year guard, scored 26 points against the Clippers on Oct. 27, including an internet-shattering dunk over Nicholas Batum.

Even though the Lakers had just lost an ugly game to the Oklahoma City Thunder in which James did not participate, The King still found the time to tweet about Sexton after his team’s defeat.

“My goodness, Young Bull!” exclaims the narrator. James made a joke about Sexton’s moniker on Twitter. “It’s the same with the left.”

The Lakers next faced the Cavs a few nights later, and Cleveland outplayed LA for the most of the game until James and his teammates grabbed control in the fourth quarter, winning 113-101. Following the game, James made a few remarks about Mobley, the Cavaliers’ rookie big man, who had a 23-point, six-rebound effort.

According to Cleveland.com, James said, “He’s going to be a very terrific basketball player in this league.” “It’s weird since he was only a few years ago playing against my kid.” It’s strange. It’s becoming more bizarre. He played my son in the playoffs two years ago, and we all witnessed what he accomplished in the tournament – it was incredible. They managed to get a decent one. There’s an excellent one in Cleveland. I’ll say they’ve done a fantastic job in the draft throughout the years.”

As previously said, LeBron James seldom talks on the Cavs’ present status, so his words were very intriguing, particularly given that he will be a free agency in the summer of 2023.

And Cavaliers fans have voiced their excitement for Part Two of The Return.

“The amount of social media flirtation between LeBron and the Cavs has not been lost on me,” Ben Axelrod, a Cleveland-based writer, tweeted after James’ tweet about Sexton and a tweet from the Cavs’ official team account celebrating the 18th anniversary of LeBron’s NBA debut.

After that, Axelrod proceeded to Twitter to ask supporters whether they wanted “LeBron to return to the Cavs,” and 81.4 percent said yes, while 18.6 percent said no.

Following James’ comments regarding Mobley, another Reddit user said, “I hope so,” in response to a user who believes the Cavs should keep tanking so they can trade for a pair of superstars when James returns to the team in a few years. When someone added, “I sorta want LeBron to come back,” a second fan answered, “I’m in.” “The re-entry.”

Overall, James’ statements have offered Cavs supporters a ray of optimism that he may return for a third tenure with the franchise.

However, the chances of it occurring seem to be slim.

It’s ridiculous to expect another LeBron James-Cavs reunion.

Any chance the Cavs have of luring LeBron James back to Cleveland now seems to be a pipe dream. James won a championship with the Lakers a few seasons ago, and this year he’s part of a star-studded group that has a chance to win another.

“I genuinely hope that I can conclude my career with the Lakers,” the four-time NBA MVP stated on a podcast this summer, according to Yahoo Sports.

After four straight NBA Finals appearances with the Miami Heat, few NBA fans expected James to return to Cleveland in 2014. According to USA Today, he also said that he didn’t “have the energy” to leave the Cavs when he returned, but moved to the Lakers four years later.

So, with that in mind, anything may happen. But, for the time being, it looks that the Space Jam 2 actor is at ease in Hollywood.
