With all due respect to Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has been handling his quarterback situation a lot better than his predecessor, Mike McCarthy. On Tuesday, LaFleur spoke with reporters in Green Bay, where he admitted that the Packers are preparing for the possibility of playing four quarterbacks in 2018.
It has to be a good sign that the Green Bay Packers are having four quarterbacks at their mini-camp. After all, you don’t typically have four quarterbacks at a mini-camp, do you? But, the fact that Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers are both on the field at the same time is a good sign for the Packers, as they are trying to figure out if they have a quarterback competition going on behind closed doors. If Mike McCarthy is on the field with Aaron Rodgers, he must have a definitive answer on who will be the starter, right?

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had an interesting answer when asked recently why he had four quarterbacks in camp.As previously reported, starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers has said he no longer wants to stay in Green Bay, and it even looks like he will miss this season, leaving the Packers with several inexperienced quarterbacks.
No Aaron Rodgers, no problem

In addition to backup quarterback Jordan Love, who could become the starter in Rodgers’ place, Lafleur drafted Blake Bortles, Kurt Benkert and former Cincinnati Bengals backup Jake Dolegal.
Lafleur explained why he thinks four quarterbacks are needed in minicamp.
I think there are a lot more components than just 11-on-11 or 7-on-7 team practices, LaFleur said. You throw routes in the air, and as much as I like to think I can throw the ball or (defensive backs coach Luke) Getsey can throw the ball, you want NFL defenders to throw the ball to receivers, to (running) backs, whoever they are, so you need those hands. I’m sure things will become clearer for us as training camp approaches and we will be able to make adjustments.
In other words, it looks like LaFleur is holding out hope for Rodgers’ return.

Many people close to the Packers believe that if Rodgers doesn’t return to the team, it will be Lava’s team for a while, if not forever.
But if Love doesn’t live up to expectations, can the former starting quarterback of the Jacksonville Jaguars step up and take over his starting quarterback spot?
He has more experience than Love and led the Jags to the 2018 AFC Championship before losing to the New England Patriots. So it’s not inconceivable that Bortles will take over Love’s starting position.
The problem with Bortles is that while he does many things well, he is also prone to making mistakes. Unlike Rogers, who can usually come back after a mistake, Bortles has trouble doing so. He plays better when he doesn’t make too many mistakes, which he does often.
Jordan Love is the starter for the moment
LaFleur has made it clear in the past that Love will be the Packers’ starter if Rodgers doesn’t return, which now seems unlikely.
But Love reportedly struggled during minicamp and threw a pick-six to Eric Stokes, a first-round pick in the 2021 draft.
One wonders if this will put pressure on Love, as the organization and fans expect him to lead them back to the NFC Championship Game, but the Packers may have to be patient with their new starting quarterback.
The question is this: How much patience do they have?
