The Thunder’s Russell Westbrook became a household name in the NBA when he exploded onto the scene as one of its best players. He has had his fair share of ups and downs, with some of it being attributed to off court controversies like comments on how well Patrick Beverley would play against him during their career.
Russell Westbrook’s past comments have been a source of controversy. This time it was Patrick Beverley who claimed that his career has been damaged by the remarks. Read more in detail here: russell westbrook stats 2021.
Russell Westbrook has been the punchline to every joke this season, and the Los Angeles Lakers’ scapegoat has been ludicrous. He even recently said that some supporters have gone too far in their hatred, prompting him to keep his family away from games.
Westbrook’s longtime NBA opponent Patrick Beverley took a jab at him on Twitter before his remarks regarding his family. And, in explaining the purpose of his tweet, Beverley made an intriguing accusation about Russ, claiming that he had harmed his career.
Patrick Beverley and Russell Westbrook have been competitors for a long time.

For over a decade, Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley have been feuding.
Beverley clashed with Westbrook during a 2013 NBA playoff series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets after the latter’s OKC side had called a timeout. Westbrook tore his meniscus in the incident, necessitating additional operations.
Following a play in which Beverley dived for the ball and collided with Westbrook’s legs during a 2018 game between the Thunder and the Los Angeles Clippers, the two exchanged words. However, a 2019 event, according to Beverley, had the most important influence on the defensive-minded guard’s career.
The game pitted Westbrook’s Houston Rockets against Beverley’s Los Angeles Clippers, with James Harden scoring 47 points on the night. So, after the game, Russ made some remarks regarding Pat’s defense.
According to ESPN, he remarked, “Pat Bev tricked y’all, bro, like he was playing defense.” “He doesn’t look after anyone, guy.” It’s basically a bunch of running about and doing nothing…. All that hullabaloo just to get 47.”
Given the fact that Beverley takes care in his defensive performance, and the three-time All-Defensive Team honoree still has the receipts, it was an impressive shot.
Russell Westbrook is to blame for Patrick Beverley’s demise.

This season, Russell Westbrook has had a lot of trouble. His athleticism isn’t what it once was, and he simply can’t seem to connect with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
As a result of Westbrook’s difficulties, Beverley fired a tweet at him last month.
“I remember when somebody said all I do is run around and I trick y’all,” he tweeted on Feb. 10. “Well my boy is The Real Magician this year.”
On a recent edition of JJ Redick’s The Old Man and the Three podcast, Beverley clarified his post.
“After Westbrook’s words, people looked at me differently,” Beverley remarked on the March 11 edition. “… After that, everyone simply took the ball and threw it at me. ‘What the f***?’ I think to myself. It’s all because of one person’s remark… ‘Yeah, maybe this motherf***** doesn’t play defense,’ somebody said. He just does one thing: run about.’
So, he decided to send a “very humble tweet” in response to Westbrook’s statements, which he claims have had a negative influence on his career.
“Perfect timing, too, huh?” says the narrator. “There’s a trade deadline,” Beverley said. “‘Patrick Beverley is a madman,’ says the narrator. I am; I could care less. “So what?” you could ask.
After then, the Arkansas product went a step farther.
Beverley said, “He harmed my career.” “Coaching staffs and players, as well as spectators, all had quite diverse reactions to me.” ‘You know what?’ they said, looking at me. He isn’t a defensive player. ‘All he does is holler and run about.’ And I clung to it, and I clung to it, and I clung to it, and I clung to it And some individuals continue to do so.”

Russell Westbrook may have had an effect on Patrick Beverley’s career. It didn’t happen out of nowhere, however. Beverley had an injury to his first.
Although the incident that resulted in Westbrook’s torn meniscus was not intentional, it prevented him from participating in the rest of the 2013 playoffs. The Thunder finished 60-22 that season, but they didn’t go beyond the conference playoffs without their point guard.
What would have occurred if he hadn’t been sick? They were the Western Conference’s top seed and had recently advanced to the NBA Finals the year before. With a healthy Westbrook, they may have made it back to the Finals. Given that the San Antonio Spurs took them to seven games that season, they would have had a good chance against the Miami Heat.
Westbrook might be a champion right now if Beverley hadn’t inadvertently injured his knee. Instead, as his career draws to a close, the 2016-17 NBA MVP is pursuing a ring.
Sure, Russell Westbrook’s 2019 remarks “hurt” Patrick Beverley’s career, but we can’t forget how their conflict began. Westbrook’s dispute with Beverley is justified.
