As the 2014 season sweeps across the country, the National Football League preseason must be winding down. On Sunday, August 28th, the Seattle Seahawks will kick off the 2014 NFL preseason against the Kansas City Chiefs at CenturyLink Field. This game will be the second of four preseason games for both teams; the Seahawks will play the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, August 27th.
Today in our sports coverage area, we are discussing the wonderful world of sports puns. Today, we are talking about “Prime Ocho”, the nickname for the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers, defensive lineman Solomon Thomas. (Yes, we know they are a professional football team, not the City of San Francisco. Yes, we know that it’s not a pun. Yes, we know they’re not called the “Niners”.)It’s been almost a decade since one of the most interesting receivers in NFL history caught a pass. That receiver is Cincinnati Bengals legend Chad Johnson, aka Chad Ochocinco. Wait, what? A decade? Yes. It seems like not much time has passed, but Johnson last played in the league in 2011. Over the course of his career, Johnson let his game do the talking and became one of the best receivers in the NFL, but he also did a lot of the talking himself, making him one of the most intriguing players to watch. But even though he hasn’t played in nearly 10 years, Johnson knows which offense he’d like to play in now. They also probably suspect Johnson of picking the Kansas City Chiefs team.

After being selected in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft, Johnson gained just 329 receiving yards in his rookie season. From 2002 to 2007, however, Johnson was one of the best pass catchers in the league. He gained more than 1,100 receiving yards in each of those seasons and led the NFL with 1,369 receiving yards in 2006. He also surpassed 1,400 yards in 2005 and 2007. The man who once renamed himself Chad Ochocinco made five Pro Bowl appearances and was among the top players twice during that time. Then he was selected to the Pro Bowl again in 2009. After a 10-year career with the Bengals, Johnson played for the New England Patriots in 2011, his final year in the league. He has caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns in his career.
Ochocinco would love to play for the Kansas City Chiefs
. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have had one of the most explosive teams in the NFL in each of the last three seasons. It certainly helped them win the Super Bowl in the 2019 season, then lead them back to the big game in the 2020 campaign. Although Mahomes already has some big men at his disposal, including Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, Johnson would like to see how Ochocinco would perform in this offense. That would be really great, Johnson said in the third. June episode of Slow News Dayon The Ringer. … Andy Reid and, of course, the assistant who plays the game, make this game work. Having Patrick Mahomes is already a plus, but with [offensive coordinator] Eric Bieniemi, Patrick Mahomes and the best Ocho in this offense, I think it’s going to be very, very dynamic. Johnson, at his peak, would have made this the strongest offense in NFL history. In 2020, Kels and Hill combined for over 1,200 receiving yards and over 10 touchdowns. The former star of the Bengals was an incredible athlete throughout his career, receiving over 1,200 yards five times. Mahomes is already one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but Johnson will simply make the Chiefs’ offense unstoppable.
Chad Johnson believes he can still succeed in the NFL
. Although he hasn’t played in nearly 10 years, Johnson still thinks he has a lot in him if he were to try to resume his NFL career. Nothing has changed; same size, same speed, maybe a little less; I’ve never been hurt, he said on Slow News Day. I haven’t stopped moving, being active since the last time I played. I played football. What would his stats look like if he played for his old team, the Bengals, in 2021? I would probably get into the game at the third level. I might end up with three or four touchdowns, maybe 700, 750 or 800 yards, Johnson said. No one ever said Johnson didn’t have confidence. But if you don’t understand why the former pass rusher is so confident, check out some of his highlights on YouTube.
