Shaquille O’Neal Clowns Dennis Schroder for Being Forced to Sign a $5.9 Million Deal With the Celtics After Rejecting $84 Million to Stay With the Lakers In the summer of 2016, the NBA world was stunned to see one of the league’s most popular players, Shaquille O’Neal, publicly decrying the Los Angeles Lakers for being “unfair” to him and his family. The following article will discuss why Shaq chose to stay with the Orlando Magic and why he chose to go to the Boston Celtics and why he chose to

Kristaps Porzingis went to the Knicks, and the deal to sign him officially closed, but the NBA offseason is far from over. In the last 24 hours, a deal to send Dennis Schroeder to the Celtics for a five-year, $84 million contract with a player option has been rejected by Schroder.

Shaquille O’Neal will retire against his wishes. The former NBA champion has been playing for the champs, but after they lost to the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, O’Neal was given a huge deal that is much more money than he was offered to stay with the Lakers. O’Neal had no choice but to accept the deal and head to Boston to play for the Celtics.. Read more about shaq net worth and let us know what you think.

Dennis Schroder was forced to settle for a one-year, $5.9 million contract with the Boston Celtics after turning down a four-year, $84 million offer to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers to test free agency. As you would expect, he’s been chastised for his choice, and not just by random people on social media. Several NBA experts and former players have weighed in on the matter, the most recent being Shaquille O’Neal, who knows a thing or two about big-money agreements (and about playing for both the Lakers and the Celtics).

Dennis Schroder just signed a one-year, $5.9 million contract with the Celtics after turning down a four-year, $84 million deal with the Lakers.

The Lakers gave Schroder a four-year contract extension for $84 million just before the NBA trade deadline in March. Schroder was in the last year of a four-year, $70 million rookie deal he’d signed with the Atlanta Hawks in 2016, and the Lakers could only offer him $84 million under that contract. And it was clear that he should have taken it.

Schroder has never made an NBA All-Star Game and has never been an All-NBA or All-Defensive pick, despite having career averages of 14.3 points and 4.7 assists per game. Yes, he was the NBA Sixth Man of the Year runner-up for the 2019-20 season, but that’s all. He made it obvious that he wanted to play in the NBA as a starter, and the Lakers offered him the opportunity.

But a $21 million yearly contract as the starting point guard for the Lakers, with the potential to win NBA championships with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, wasn’t enough for Schroder, and he turned it down to test the waters in free agency. Whoops.

Schroder has agreed to a one-year contract with the Celtics for the $5.9 million taxpayer midlevel exception after receiving no big-money offers. That’s still a lot of money to play basketball for, but it’s $15 million less than he would have earned with the Lakers. Ouch.

Shaquille O’Neal chastised Schroder for rejecting the Lakers’ offer.

Shaquille O’Neal, who won three straight championships with the Lakers in the early 2000s, couldn’t help but join the hundreds upon thousands of fans who were roasting Schroder on social media when the news broke on Tuesday that he had agreed to terms with the Celtics.

While he wasn’t as brutal as others, Shaq used Instagram to publish a photo of Schroder with the caption, “Dennis Schroder agrees to 1-year contract with Celtics after rejecting down 4-year $84 million offer from Lakers.” His modest caption, on the other hand, drew everyone’s attention.

“Things that make you wonder #whatthehellareyouthinking”

Dennis Schroder was the subject of an Instagram post by Shaquille O’Neal.

That is a question I believe everyone is asking, Shaq.

In Boston, he might come off the bench.

Schroder not only cheated himself out of millions of dollars by turning down the Lakers’ offer, but he also cheated himself out of a starting position in Boston, where he’ll likely be Marcus Smart’s backup point guard. And even if he does start, it’s not like he’ll be joining a team where he’ll be a major scoring weapon, as the Celtics already have Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

In any case, when next summer comes around, he won’t be able to place himself in a position to get a deal worth more than the $84 million he passed down. Schroder is expected to have another strong season, and the Celtics must be ecstatic to have gotten him for such a “cheap” price. And who knows, maybe things work out and he remains in Boston for longer than the following season. However, I don’t believe he’ll ever be given a $21 million yearly salary again.
