Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most dominant players in NBA history, but he has always been known for his team-first mentality. In a recent interview with ESPN The Magazine, Shaq revealed that he was often motivated by two friends who were also stars in their own right.

Shaquille O’Neal is a retired basketball player who dominated in the NBA for over two decades. He was one of the most dominant players in history and has won many awards including being a 12-time All-Star, 5-time MVP, and 2-time Finals MVP. But despite his success, he often relied on other celebrities to help him reach his goals. In an interview with GQ Magazine, O’Neal said that he would sometimes rely on older actresses with ms for extra motivation when needed.

When basketball fans debate who the NBA’s greatest player is, Michael Jordan and LeBron James are almost always named. Someone else, even if they aren’t regarded the GOAT, may have been the most dominant: Shaquille O’Neal.

Shaq was an unstoppable force in the paint, bulldozing opponents with relative ease thanks to his 7-foot-1, muscle-filled physique. Despite his dominance, he sometimes need additional incentive when he wasn’t performing to his high standards. Snoop Dogg and B-Real, two major celebrities, seem to have kept O’Neal responsible when he needed that additional push.

During his NBA career, Shaq played in front of a number of celebrities.

Throughout his career, Shaq played in front of a lot of big names, particularly during his eight years with the Los Angeles Lakers. Everyone wanted to see him put on a show because of his thunderous dunks and intimidating presence in the paint.

In a recent interview with Sportscasting promoting his and The General’s forthcoming collaboration with Black Entrepreneurs Day, O’Neal stated, “I used to watch all my favorite stars and actresses.” “It was my job, my responsibility, to brag for them.” Look, every guy wants a beautiful actress girlfriend or wife, so maybe if I put on a show, she’ll send someone to acquire my phone number or anything if I put on a performance. But I saw them all, and we did bring them out.”

O’Neal’s list of celebrity fans could fill a Hollywood phone book (do they still have those? ), and he even revealed on a September 2021 edition of The Kelly Clarkson Show that he requested a timeout during a game because he spotted Halle Berry in the audience.

The Hall of Famer, on the other hand, turned to two other celebrities for inspiration.

Shaquille O’Neal was inspired by Snoop Dogg and B-Real.

Snoop Dogg and B-Real are big Lakers fans, so Shaq, who won three championships with the team, probably gave them a lot of pleasure during his time there.

However, there were times when O’Neal wasn’t at his best, and they were there to let him know.

“Snoop Dogg and B-Real were constantly on me,” O’Neal said. “… They’d constantly stand up and make sure I saw them if I wasn’t rebounding or missing free throws, and be like (give him a look of discontentment). So, Snoop Dogg and B-Real from Cypress Hill are very close buddies; we joke about it today.”

O’Neal went on to say that “sometimes you need” that additional push.

“Sometimes you need someone you respect and honor to tell you, ‘Hey, step it up.’ “We want to win a championship,” O’Neal said.

Shaq stood up on many occasions, and as a consequence, he became a huge celebrity in his own right.

What’s interesting is that O’Neal’s reliance on celebrities for inspiration has helped him become maybe an even larger celebrity than they are, since he’s now one of the most famous people on the planet.

Shaq has had a lot of success off the court as well, garnering 15 All-Star choices and an MVP award, scoring the eighth-most points in NBA history, and winning four championships (three with the Lakers and one with the Miami Heat).

The 1992 NBA Draft’s No. 1 overall selection has featured in many commercials and even has his own shoe and apparel lines. He’s also been on TNT’s Inside the NBA and featured in his own film, Kazaam. Even Snoop Dogg and B-Real struggle to equal O’Neal’s fame.

Shaq’s domination in the NBA helped pave the way for his meteoric rise to fame. On the evenings that he didn’t perform his best, though, he was held responsible by other celebrities.
