Two years ago, Connor McDavid was the top prospect in hockey. Since then, he has gone on to become the third best player in the NHL, behind Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin. In the last few months, he has taken his game to a whole new level, leading the league in points and popularity.
In April of last year, the NBA season was coming to an end, with the Golden State Warriors having won the NBA Championship. The Warriors would win their third straight title (the first time such a feat has ever been accomplished), and have to be considered as favorites to win another championship by the time the regular season began this year. But, on June 12th, in an unexpected end to the NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Warriors in a stunning Game 4, and the world was forever changed.
The New York Knicks had a great regular season. They were up by 10 points with 8 minutes left in the game and they were looking like they were going to go all the way to the NBA Finals. And then, it all came crashing down. The Knicks blew it, and the rest of the season could have been so different.
Everyone remembers where they were when they witnessed one of the most infamous moments in NBA history: the 2004 battle between the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons, also known as the Palace Grudge. As a result of this incident, the players even went into the stands and started fighting with the fans, resulting in one of the most horrific moments the league has ever seen and continues to see.Former NBA player Stephen Jackson was one of the players involved in the fight that night. He recently revealed what he hates most about her.

The Pacers had high hopes for the 2004-05 season. They got off to a good start, winning their first nine games by a combined score of 7-2 before reaching the Conference finals in the 2003-04 season with a 61-21 campaign.
However, in this ninth game of the 2004-05 season, they played out against their Eastern Conference Central Division rival, the defending NBA champion, Detroit Pistons.
Late in the fourth quarter of a game the Pacers were winning, Ron Artest – now known as Metta Sandiford-Artest – and Pistons great Ben Wallace clashed. Their hand-to-hand combat eventually led to a general brawl between the two teams.
Rip Hamilton is my brother from the class of 1996; we were close, Jackson said recently on the podcast Charges with Rex Chapman . Chapman – a former NBA player – recently launched Charges via content company Portal A.
Jackson continued: Rasheed [Wallace] is my brother; I looked up to Derrick Coleman. But by this time, the excitement was so high that we were all nervous. We were all fighting and pushing each other.
During the chaos, Artest and Jackson went into the stands to confront the fans after Artest splashed beer on himself. But Jackson noticed that Rasheed Wallace, a Pistons player, was going for it in the stands.
He came to see if I was OK, to get me out of the stands, because there was too much going on and it was getting confusing fast, Jackson said in episode 29. June.
Finally, the former Pacer added that there is always love between everyone. The players were just competitive and wanted to be great.

According to USA Today, a total of nine players were disqualified. Jackson received a 30-game suspension, but Artest received the most punishment from the league. He received a 73-game suspension and missed the rest of the season.
Ron missed a championship; it was our championship year, Jackson said on Charges with Rex Chapman. They suspended him for the season, Rex, because someone threw a beer at him. And in today’s society, throwing beer at someone is assault.
But what Jackson hates most is that this incident ruined Reggie Miller’s final season. Miller is a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. With the Pacers, he appeared in the All-Star Game five times and ranks third in league history in three-point percentage.
This was his year to win a championship, Jackson said. It was Reggie’s senior year, and Reggie was convinced we could be champions, but one moment ruined our entire year.
Indiana Pacers do not meet expectations
The loss of Artest was a big blow to the Pacers. Last season, he averaged 18.3 points and 5.3 rebounds. In the 2004-05 season, he averaged 24.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in seven games.
Without Artest, the Pacers went 44-38 this year. They reached the semifinals of the Eastern Conference, where of course they met the Pistons. However, Detroit won the series in six games and returned to the NBA Finals, but lost in seven games to the San Antonio Spurs.
The players involved in the Palace atrocity have long since survived the incident. But Pacers fans are still puzzled: What if it never happened? Would the Pacers have made it to the finals instead of the Pistons? Can they beat the Spurs? We’ll never know.
The incident, however, left Miller without a title on his resume.
