The question “Is there a such thing as a tie?” is not one that can be answered with a simple yes or no. In sports, ties are common, but in general they are not seen as the same outcome as when two teams win outright.

Kareem was also a good shot blocker, but since blocks were first became an official stat after his sixth season in the league, it’s difficult to obtain an exact figure.
While championships aren’t the greatest individual statistic since a strong player may end up on a poor team, or a lesser player can be lifted by better skill, Abdul-Jabbar excels in this area. At UCLA, the center won three NCAA championships and went on to win six more rings in the professional levels. He also added six NBA MVP titles to his collection, as well as virtually every other individual honor.

Because each player plays under their own set of conditions, there is no such thing as the GOAT. Every player must adjust to their situation and discover a method to succeed. This isn’t a Highlander episode. It is possible for there to be more than one.

While it isn’t the most exciting response you’ll ever hear, both MJ and Kareem have a point. While the argument about who is the greatest of all time may be entertaining, it is ultimately unsolvable. Someone will always have a preference for a different player, and that’s OK.
Although it may seem a little Pollyanna, it’s better to just appreciate the excellence you’ve been given the opportunity to see. Even if LeBron James or any other current player isn’t completely worthy of the GOAT label, it’d be a pity to lose out on enjoying the game’s best players because you were so preoccupied with proving that they were worse than Michael Jordan.
