Dwight Howard, who was traded by the Atlanta Hawks in 1996 to join the Orlando Magic, has called his decision to leave and sign with the Charlotte Hornets ‘the dumbest thing I’ve ever done.’

The “why did the packers let cobb go” is a question that has been asked by many. The Packers decided to let Cobb walk because they felt it would be disrespectful to do so.

'To Drag It Out Past Free Agency Would Be Disrespectful'

Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, held his team and the whole NFL prisoner for months in 2021. No one knew whether he’d return to his longstanding residence, hold out for a trade, host Jeopardy, or whatever else he’d do. Rodgers will have to make another major choice about his future in 2022, but this time he intends to do the right thing.

Last offseason, Aaron Rodgers harmed the Green Bay Packers by postponing his decision to return.

Without a doubt, the greatest topic of the 2021 NFL offseason will be where Aaron Rodgers will play next season.

Rodgers made public statements after the Packers’ sad NFC Championship Game defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that hinted to an uncertain future in Green Bay. On the eve of the NFL Draft in 2021, the quarterback released a bombshell that left little doubt about his intention to leave Wisconsin.

He missed minicamps after that, traveled with celebrity friends, hosted Jeopardy, and basically showed no sign that he would play for the Packers next season.

When he eventually arrived at training camp, he staged a fiery news conference to express his complaints with the team, particularly general manager Brian Gutekunst.

It’s predictable that the New Orleans Saints blasted away the Packers in Week 1 after an offseason full of uncertainty in which head coach Matt LaFleur had to prepare for a returning MVP quarterback and a second-year signal-caller who had yet to throw an NFL pass at the same time.

Rodgers was able to correct the ship and win the NFC. However, the offseason’s chaos surfaced in the first week, and the season might have been a nightmare if it hadn’t been for Rodgers’ pure willpower.

It could become ugly if the same “will he, won’t he?” offseason occurs in 2022, particularly if Rodgers chooses to depart the Packers. Fortunately, the divisive passer has said that he would do the right thing this year and not bring the topic up again.

In 2022, the quarterback pledges to make a faster choice.

A lot has happened since Aaron Rodgers’ rough 2021 offseason. He and GM Brian Gutekunst now have a stronger connection, but the Green Bay Packers have yet to make the playoffs, and the franchise confronts severe salary cap difficulties in 2022.

Rodgers’ one pledge in January 2022, regardless of whether he stays, retires, or forces a trade, is that he won’t drag his tale out to training camp like he did last year.

This week, like he does every week throughout the season, the quarterback appeared on the Pat McAfee Show and made a public vow to his teammates and the only NFL organization he’s ever played for:

I’d want to treat the organization with respect. Davante [Adams] and his future with the squad will undoubtedly be one of the forthcoming decisions. There’s still the franchise tag to contend with. However, that decision will be made in February. Late in February. So, I believe that should give you ample time to make a choice. I don’t want to set a date for myself, but I do want to be considerate to Davante and the many other men who are making choices about their own futures. And dragging it out through free agency would be insulting to the company and those players, which will never happen.

Aaron Rodgers on when he’ll make his decision on the Green Bay Packers’ future.

To be cynical, one might argue that Rodgers is merely making a hasty choice in order to assist his next club have a better summer. Whatever his motivations, a swift decision would definitely benefit the Packers and many other clubs in the league.

Rodgers’ decision will reverberate across the NFL.

Whatever you think of Aaron Rodgers over the previous year or two, you have to admire his determination to make a quicker choice in the summer of 2022.

Whatever the quarterback decides, it will have repercussions across the league for the following season.

Rodgers’ future with the Green Bay Packers will decide what the future holds for numerous veterans approaching retirement, free agents, and players with large salary budget hits in 2022. Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith, and Randall Cobb are among the Packers.

If Rodgers goes this summer, whether by retirement or trade, the Packers coaching staff and the player himself will have to go all-in on the Jordan Love Era.

A transfer to another club will cause dominoes to fall all around the league.

A transfer by Rodgers to another club would be the first step in what could be a whirlwind summer for quarterbacks. Green Bay’s No. 12 moving clubs might have an impact on Russell Wilson, Baker Mayfield, Ryan Tannehill, Derek Carr, Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Deshaun Watson, and Tua Tagovailoa (directly or indirectly).

The 2022 Aaron Rodgers Watch has officially begun. The most exciting thing for NFL fans, though, is that, according to the guy himself, it should be completed in six weeks or less this time.
