While the Cowboys take the field Thursday night against the Eagles, they’ll have a new quarterback under center. Prescott, the Cowboys’ 2016 fourth-round pick out of Mississippi State, will be leading the team at the helm for the first time. Considering he’s a rookie, many are waiting to see what he has to offer. While the Cowboys weren’t necessarily happy with the way Prescott played last season, he did show a lot of promise. “I believe that when you’re the quarterback for such a visible organization as the Cowboys, you’re really under the scrutiny, and you hope that you have someone who can deal with that aspect of it while still performing on the field.”

Prescott has long been an admirer of Aikman’s, and he openly pushed for a contract extension even before Jerry Jones ultimately signed Dak to a four-year, $160 million deal in March, following two years of talks and a season as a franchise player.
Jones had Aikman as a guest at Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California, this past Sunday, and as the two were watching practice, the Super Bowl 27 MVP leaned over to his old employer and made a comment that contained some very high praise for Prescott.
“As a broadcaster and a player, I haven’t seen many guys that conduct themselves the way he does. The Cowboys are very lucky to have someone like him on their side.”

Aikman, on the other hand, did not stop there. When questioned by SI whether he felt Dak was a good leader, Aikman responded as follows:
“I believe he is the greatest in the field. I’d place him in a group with just a few other players in this league. What he stands for in terms of this franchise and league. He’s that kind of guy and teammate.”

And how do you think Prescott will recover from his season-ending ankle injury, according to Aikman?
Dak is expected to have a fantastic 2021 season, according to Aikman.
Prescott impressed Aikman at Sunday’s Cowboys practice, and he expects him to have a “great season” as he tries to recover from the horrific ankle injury that terminated his 2020 season. Last October, Prescott was carried off the field with a complex fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, which necessitated urgent surgery. Late last year, Dak had a second operation to strengthen his deltoid ligament and improve the structural integrity of his ankle.
